About us

The Bohuslav Martinů Foundation
was established in 1975 under the Czech Music Fund with the aim of supporting and developing the legacy of the Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů both in the Czech Republic and abroad. Since 1992, it has operated as an independent legal entity and has gradually evolved into a modern cultural foundation. Its long-term mission is the systematic support of activities that contribute to a deeper understanding, interpretation, and dissemination of his work.
The Foundation provides financial support to projects focused on the performance of Bohuslav Martinů’s music, its research, and its accessibility to the public. It supports concerts, festivals, competitions, recordings, publications, as well as scientific and editorial projects that develop both professional and general awareness of the composer’s work.

In cooperation with the Bohuslav Martinů Institute, the Bohuslav Martinů Centre in Polička, and other domestic and foreign partners, the Foundation bridges artistic practice with musicological research and source preservation. The Foundation organizes significant cultural events, most notably the Bohuslav Martinů Days festival and the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation Interpretation Competition. These initiatives support young musicians and help maintain the vibrant tradition of the composer’s work.
Through these activities, the Foundation makes a long-term contribution to ensuring that the work of Bohuslav Martinů remains a vibrant part of global musical culture and continues to appeal to new generations of listeners and performers alike.
